Day 6

Today was supposed to be a driving day from South Dakota to Iowa.  We did our planned stop in Sioux Falls, SD, at the J & L Harley Davidson shop.  We thought it was cool that it's called J & L (John & Laura).  John bought himself a Harley shirt, so now he's up to three Harley shirts on this trip.  After that, we thought we were just going to drive straight to Des Moines, Iowa.  Then we saw that signs that said we were driving through Madison County.  I looked on my iPhone to see if it was THE Madison County from the book and movie, "Bridges of Madison County."  It is, so we decided to drive to the town of Winterset, IA, to search for the bridges of Madison County.  Winterset, IA, is also the birth place of John Wayne so we went to his childhood home and took pictures.  Very special since John is a Morrison (and so is John Wayne).  We then stopped and photographed three of the six that are located in this area.  The Roseman Bridge is the one that was described in the book and was shown in the movie, so I definitely wanted to go there.  It was a great, spontaneous detour that we took.  Then we got back on the highway and drove to our hotel and had a fabulous Mexican dinner and $17 pitcher of strawberry margaritas.
