Day 5

Today we had a short drive day, but we saw a LOT!  We left Wyoming and arrived in South Dakota.  We decided to add Deadwood, SD, to our day, and we walked around this old western town and went to the cemetery to see the graves of Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane.  After that we drove to Sturgis, so that John could go to the Harley shop there and buy himself a t-shirt and a few other Harley items.  After lunch we drove to Mt. Rushmore.  What an awesome site!  It was sunny and clear and we could really see how beautiful the carvings are.  I really loved seeing this and we took a ton of pictures!  We then drove to see Crazy Horse, which I felt was way overpriced ($10 per person) for a rock carving that isn't even finished.  We decided to cancel our hotel in Rapid City and just drive spur of the moment.  We were going to drive until we wanted to stop and hoped we'd find a decent hotel.  I'm so glad we did this, because along the way, we kept seeing these signs for Wall Drug.  They had billboards along the freeway that totally made us want to stop in the small city of Wall.  It was such a unique town!  Lots of cute stores and strange things to photograph.  We ate dinner in the cafe there, and had buffalo burgers.
